Low-tech Magazine har en lång artikel om linbanas historia som sträcker sig 2 000 år tillbaka, men hade sin storhetstid för lastbilens intåg, och kanske kommer den till baka för transporter både i bergig terräng och platt, i bergig terräng så kan man även generera el i vissa fall.

Vi har ett exempel på en lång linbana mellan Forsby och Köping som en gång transporterade kalk. Detta är kanske är en framkomlig väg för vissa typer av transporter som i dag går på lastbil.
